Type: Awareness of Breath
Read Time: 2 mins

Review

I was again unable to do my daily meditation this morning due mostly to not getting out of bed early being followed by childcare commitments. I started this quite late in the evening when my main day has been finished. I decided to use a pair of cushions stacked and to meditate on the floor in my office.

As I sat down I started to remember to try and recall the recommended preparation steps:

  • Motivation
  • Goals
  • Expectations
  • Diligence
  • Distractions
  • Posture

I remembered Goals, Distractions and Posture. I sort of did Motivation too, but Diligence and Expectations escaped me while sitting down. After making these intentions, I did a quick body scan and moved awareness to the focus on the breathing at the nose.

I was quite distracted again this evening. I could focus a little better than yesterday, however, it was still a fairly erratic process. I was also getting quite sleepy by the later stages. I will have to really push myself next weekend to wake up early for meditation as this does seem to be the best time for me.

I also finished the meditation with fairly strong pins and needles along my right leg, especially the lower half. I used to sit quite regularly on the floor without this being an issue. I’ll try and do some more from the floor soon.
