2019-03-14 6:32am 30m Morning Sitting

Type: Awareness of Breath
Read Time: 2 mins

I was ready and seated again this morning at 06:32.

I noticed straight away while going through the initial preparations that my mind was wandering a lot this morning. It took me around 5 minutes to go through the setup and get comfortable within my posture.

Internal Preparation Comment
Motivation - Peaceful mind and more focus
Goals - Stage 2 mastery
Possible Distractions - Busy day of work ahead, Also a small legal matter

It then took a little longer to do a quick body scan and count a few breaths. Becoming a little frustrated with this, I made the firm intention to focus more.

This resulted in a good few minutes of focus which also had me aware of how still I felt. I also used the recommendation of mentally noting in and out breaths with ‘in’ and ‘out’, but starting from the out breath. Which is supposed to help counteract the tendency for the mind to drift following the end of the out breath. I did feel like this helped given the amount of wandering I had experienced to start. This did continue for some time, but I found myself getting impatient and starting to want the bell to sound towards the end.

Overall I felt like a recovered a bad start so I won’t score lower than 6 for satisfaction.
