I started slightly after my preferred time. This was due to waking fifteen minutes later than normal and then getting involved with getting the children ready.
I set up the essential oil and got ready on the cushion for my preparations

Having got set up I soon noticed that my nose was blocked a little and I was unable to breathe comfortably through it. I thought about getting up to blow my nose but decided against it as I was well prepared and wasn’t sure it would even help that much. Resolving to carry on through it, I started breathing through my mouth. I chose the focus of meditation to be around the inside of my mouth.
After the preparations and checking my posture, I quickly scanned through the body and counted some breaths. I started counting to 10 with the breaths, using the odd numbers on the in breath and even on the out breath. I felt continuing frustration throughout that I was unable to switch to breathing through my nose. I did try a couple of times to switch without success.
One thing that was good, was that I was able to keep the count going throughout the whole meditation. While my focus drifted a fair amount, I was able to recover or keep the breath count going in my peripheral focus.
In that sense, it was a good session, however overall it felt outweighed by the breathing frustrations and so I was not enjoying it as much as I might have. Tomorrow I will see if I have some nose spray to use if I notice it is a little blocked again.
