Preparation

I’d not sat formally for a while, although I have done quite a few sessions in the time since my last formal entry here. I prepared the essential oils and lit a candle. Sitting to do this again in the office felt good. I was a little tired and achy, but I wanted to do the session.

  • Live in the present moment for the duration of the session

  • Traffic noise, although this was quite faint
Posture
  • Seated on a pair of cushions on the floor - cross legged.

Review

I managed my preparation steps well, with the main intention being to enjoy myself and remain in the present. I was a little tired still and there was some inevitable dullness. Being a little out of practice, I found my mind wandering more often than I had got used to, but I noticed quite often and bought it back.

The dullness allowed for a sense of peace and contentment, even if it did reduce my focus and discipline. The later parts of the session were a little scattered, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude at one point and switched to Metta Bhavana for a while towards the end of the session before sitting out the remaining time to the bell.
