As the children left I went into my office to sit this morning. It was about 8:30am and although a little tired I had drunk some coffee.
As I sat I found some relaxation straight away. It felt that I would be able to sit the whole time without too much impatience arising. I set out my intentions and sat with body awareness for a little while scanning up from my feet. This was interrupted a couple of times by mind wandering, but also relaxing.
As I moved to the breathing I did a couple of sets of ten. Noting “in”, “out” and the count. This helped and I switched to using the introspective awareness to watch the breath. There was quite a lot of thinking popping up for short periods. A couple of times I recounted to ten which helped settle things.
Towards the end, a small amount of impatience crept in, but it was brief each time. Eventually, the bell rang and I was pleased to complete the time. I left with some relaxed energy.
